Reflection : Desktop Publishing

Under Multimedia in Education topic, I learn about Desktop Publishing

From Assignment 6a, I learn how to do a brochure using Microsoft Publisher. It is very easy and fun to use. It does not require much skills, it only needs the creativity. I think it is really helpful to the teacher especially in doing brochure for any program in school.

A part from that, we also use bookfold function in Microsoft Word. I used the content in Assignment 1 (Mobile Learning) to come out with a booklet.

All in all, I think this topic really helps me in the future before I be a teacher one day. InsyaAllah.

Reflection : Multimedia in Education

Microsoft Paint is an application to draw picture on computer. SO, you don't have to use pencil and paper anymore to draw anything that you like.

You can also use Paint to work with pictures, such as .jpg, .gif, or .bmp files. You can paste a Paint picture into another document you've created, or use it as your desktop background.

In "Paint" there are many types or drawing input. We can choose many types of brushes that available.

You will be provided with a white canvas and you can draw anything that you like!

As one who loves drawing, I found that Paint is very useful for me to fill my pastime when I got nothing to do.

Reflection Week 9 : Multimedia in Education.

Bitmaps

A bitmap image is a computer file used to store a picture. It consists of tiny blocks called pixels.

The first graphic shows vector image, while the second one shows vector image.

Vectors

Programs like Flash draw using vectors. A very simple vector drawing might look like the first picture of the "A" Graphic.

In a vector drawing, you create control points. The lines in a vector drawing are created by the software and join up the control points that the user has drawn.

A vector drawing is also can be used in Google Draw.

This is the example of using Google Draw (Vector).

This is the example of Vector Drawing usage.

This is the example of Vector Based Drawing using Open Source Software.

According to Wikipedia :

Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical expressions, to represent images in computer graphics. "Vector", in this context, implies more than a straight line.

In the next post, I will brief a little bit about what I have learnt about GIMP software. Till then.

Reflection Week 7-8 : Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)

Today I learn about SPSS. At first I really have no idea on what SPSS is.
After I learn it, I have a little clue on what SPSS is

According to wikipedia,

SPSS is a computer program used for survey authoring and deployment (IBM SPSS Data Collection), data mining (IBM SPSS Modeler), text analytics, statistical analysis, and collaboration and deployment (batch and automated scoring services).

So, SPSS is used for data collection. As for teachers, they need to use SPSS to manage the students record like examination results and all that. With that, everything will be easier. The teachers can see the report on students achievement by extracting the information provided.

The is also frequencies on students achievement and the standard deviation. So basically, SPSS helps the teachers statistically.

As more me, I am using the SPSS for managing the data that I got from the Online Questionnaire.

It helps me to see the result of the questionnaire. We learn a lot from the SPSS learning and I hope I can apply the skills in my future.

Reflection Week 5 - 6 : Online Questionnaire (Survey Monkey)

Activity : Mini Research

From my point of view, I found a few things about the online questionnaire. To make it simpler and more understandable, I will divide it into several groups according to WH groups.

What is online questionnaire?
Online questionnaire is a platform to collect information from every internet user. The questions are quite simple so that average user can answer it.

Where to create online survey?
Using internet, we can use many online software. Most of them are free and user-friendly. The users can easily create it even though it is their first time using it.

How to start an online survey?
Before starting an online survey, you have to use any Online Survey that available online. As for me, I will use the free of charge software as it is affordable foe me as student. As for us, we use Survey Monkey as our medium to conduct a survey. Here are the few steps to start an online questionnaire :

  1. Sign-up an Account at Survey Monkey.
  2. Click Create Online Questionnaire.
  3. Choose "Add Question"
  4. Put information both in question box and answer box.
  5. After finish, click "Save".

So these are the new things that I have learnt so far. It is quite easy, but I haven't heard about online survey before. Trust me, it is very easy. Do have a try.

Reflection Week 5 - 6 : Plagiarism.

Activity : THINK, PAIR, SHARE

The next one is about Plagiarism. It s just a short information. But I personally think that the website is very useful, the usage of words is understandable. As a blogger, it reminds me not to plagiarize other's work. It is like stealing.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is defined by the Honor Council document as "the act of passing off as one's own the ideas or writings of another." In the Appendix to the Honor Council pamphlet called "Acknowledging the Work of Others" (which is used by permission of Cornell University), three simple conventions are presented for when you must provide a reference:

3 Things That You Need to Know :

1. If you use someone else's ideas, you should cite the source.
2. If the way in which you are using the source is unclear, make it clear.
3. If you received specific help from someone in writing the paper, acknowledge it.
